Je me mets à mon tour au jeu du Illustration Friday, dont le sujet de la semaine était "Voices". J'ai donc choisi de dessiner une sirène, puisque leur chant était, dit-on, plutôt irrésistible. Je sais que les sirènes d'Ulysse ne sont pas des femmes-poissons mais des femmes-oiseaux, mais je voulais juste essayer de peindre des effets d'eau à l'aquarelle et y mélanger les contours imprécis d'une forme humaine. J'aurais aimé pousser l'image davantage, mais nous sommes le 25 décembre, et il y a bien d'autres choses à faire ce jour-là...

And so I start doing my own Illustration Friday contributions. The theme, here, was "Voices" and I thought I could make a mermaid out of it, since the voice of this creature is supposed to be quite irresistible. I know Ulysses actually meets bird-women and not fish-women, but I just wanted to paint water effects around a human shape. I wish I could have done it better, less quickly ; on the other hand, it's Christmas and there are lots of other things to do on such a day...

I randomly came across your blog, but I just have to let you know how captivated I am by this image. The subtly of the colors is quite exquisite and the movement created by your quick brush strokes lends a delicate, ephemeral quality.
