Dans la nouvelle de Kipling, l'ancien soldat Daniel Dravot, reconnu par les villages du Kafiristan comme le descendant d'Alexandre le Grand (Sikander) est appelé à se rendre à Sikandergul, cité antique où des prêtres perpétuant le culte d'Alexandre veulent vérifier per eux-mêmes les prétentions royales et mystiques du soldat britannique.

This is a digital concept drawing for one of the characters in The Man Who Would Be King. In this Kipling short story, ex-soldier Daniel Dravot gets soon celebrated by Kafiristan villagers as a true heir to Alexander the Great (Sikander) and is summoned to come to Sikandergul, an ancient city where old priests, still attached to Alexander, wish to check for themselves the mystical claims of the British soldier.
